Set for August 25th, this much-anticipated race has become a staple in the local running community, offering not only a fantastic competition but also a post-race celebration that’s nothing short of epic.
Race Day Excitement
The race kicks off at 8:00 am with a mass start format, bringing together runners of all skill levels for a morning of camaraderie and personal achievement. Whether you're tackling the full 10K or teaming up with a partner for the relay, this course promises to be both enjoyable and challenging. The flat and fast route is perfect for those looking to set a personal record (PR) or simply enjoy a scenic run through the city streets.
Relay Details
The relay adds a unique twist to the event, allowing participants to share the fun. The first leg of the relay covers 3.5 miles, while the second leg is 2.7 miles—both offering a blend of speed and strategy that makes this race an exciting challenge for everyone involved.
Epic Post-Race Party
But the fun doesn’t stop when you cross the finish line. Harpur's 10K is renowned for its post-race party, which is a celebration in itself. After the race, runners can relax and enjoy a variety of food and beverages, including refreshing beer, while live music sets the perfect backdrop for a memorable morning. Race Swag and Awards
Participants who register by midnight on August 4th will receive a race tee shirt, a perfect memento of the day. And for those who push themselves to the top of the standings, custom pottery by Danielle Vick Studios awaits. In the 10K race, the Top 3 Male and Female finishers will take home these unique awards, with custom mugs going to the Top 10 Age-graded Male and Female finishers.
For relay teams, custom mugs will be awarded to the top teams in the Men Open, Women Open, and Mixed Open categories. Additionally, the Family Divisions—Married Couple, Father/Daughter, Father/Son, Mother/Daughter, and Mother/Son—add a heartwarming touch to the competition, with prizes recognizing the fastest family duos.
Race Day Results Highlights: Harpur's 10K & 2-Person Relay
Harpur's 10K & 2-Person Relay brought excitement and fierce competition to the streets of Binghamton. Steve Esposito dominated the 10K, crossing the finish line first with a time of 34:51.89, with John Salva and Alex Craver rounding out the top three. On the women's side, Samantha Snead led the pack, finishing strong at 42:02.39. The relay race added to the day's thrill, with teams competing in categories like Men Open, Women Open, and Mixed Open, all vying for custom pottery awards by Danielle Vick Studios. It was a day filled with community spirit, athleticism, and celebration.
